First Look: GIVI Canyon Base Harness Soft Luggage System
A new modular, rackless, off-road ready soft bag solution from the Italian brand.

GIVI has expanded its lineup with a new luggage system aimed at adventure riders that need a versatile, modular solution for carrying their gear. Designed to accommodate bags of various sizes, the GRT721 Canyon Universal Cargo Base harness offers storage capacity of 80 liters or more when fully loaded with GIVI’S soft luggage options.

According to GIVI, the Canyon Base is engineered for off-road stability and durability when mounted on enduro and adventure motorcycles while also offering a convenient rackless solution. The system integrates adjustable cam buckle mounting straps and anchors to keep gear secure during rough rides, while its PVC non-slip backing ensures the base stays in place. Additionally, Hypalon-covered adjustable side flaps not only provide secure mounting points but also offer extra protection for your waterproof bags in the event of a fall.
Materials and Construction
GIVI has opted for 1680D high-tenacity PU-coated fabric to construct the base, emphasizing UV resistance and long-term durability. TPU inserts and reinforced stitching further enhance its ability to withstand harsh conditions.

Reflective print has been added for greater nighttime visibility, while a wide variety of mounting straps allow riders to attach additional bags and cargo when needed. The universal design means it can be mounted on practically any motorcycle model, providing flexibility for different setups and bikes in your garage.
Adaptability for Different Riding Needs
One of the biggest advantages of the GRT721 Canyon Base is its modular approach. Riders can attach a range of soft bags in different configurations based on their travel needs. A typical setup with GIVI’s waterproof Canyon bags would be two 20-liter GRT714B dry bags on the sides and a 40-liter GRT712B dry duffel on the top. For shorter trips, you might swap the 40-liter duffel for another 20-liter dry bag or a GRT717B tool bag. This adaptability makes it a great luggage system for either short rides or long expeditions.

How It Works
The GIVI Canyon Base harness is placed over the back of the bike and straps on with two forward cam-buckle straps in front and and third in the back. Front mounting points can be either the frame or passenger peg mounts. In the rear, you can attach to a rear rack or other secure point behind the seat. Once the harness is secured, you can use the top cinch straps to attach a duffel or other cargo to the top of the bike.
On each side or leg of the harness, there are flaps with two cinch straps designed to wrap around cylindrical-shaped bags. Another cinch strap comes up from the bottom and over the top to support the bag along a vertical plane. After positioning the bags, you can tighten down all the straps to ensure there is minimal movement.

This new addition from GIVI promises a versatile solution for those who prefer the lighter weight and improved safety of soft luggage when tackling tough trails. The GRT721 Canyon Base is now available in the U.S. with a price of $169.20. Add a set of three GRT714B Dry Bags and you’ve got 60 liters of capacity for around $465.00.
